We started the game off with an onside kick attempt that we had been practicing all week.  They lined up perfectly to defend it but we were confident we could still get it.  The ball skipped out of bounds and they started their first drive with very good field position.  After a long pass they went in and scored in only a few plays to go up 6 - 0.  (they missed PAT)

 

I fielded the proceeding kickoff and returned it for a TD, making the score 6-7 after the PAT. 

 

Ryan made an immediate impact on defense. He absolutely shut down there ability to run the ball inside.  They were a very experienced team and made excellent adjustments.  They began to run sweeps and outside zones to shy away from Ryan.  They were also very successful on bootleg passes. 

 

Offensively I only had a real impact in the first quarter.  I scored the other two touchdowns on back-to-back drives.  They began to bracket cover me with a couple guys and we took advantage of their interior with some dives and iso run plays.  Our fourth td came on a bootleg pass to the fullback Antti who rumbled and stumbled his way for 31 yards! 

 

Overall we seemed to have the entire game in hand.  We were winning 20-14 at half and 26-14 going into the 4th quarter.  I feel like we started to play a little too confidently and gave up some big plays defensively and offensively we just became complacent and never really put together a solid drive throughout the rest of the game.  They scored 16 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to win the game 30 - 26.
